Radio is no more...
For now.

The company that was hosting the radio station appears to have gone out of business.

SDJ Radio will be back though.

Changes are a comin'
Sorry its been a while since I last updated the site. Real life tends to get in the way, but I have tried to get all mixes approved as quickly as possible.

Theres some exciting new stuff coming in the next couple of months. Firstly, we are developing a stand-alone mix uploader. This is a piece of software that you can use to submit your mixes without visiting the site. It also lists all the mixes available and you can listen to them directly via the app. It should be ready in about a months time.

Also, a subtle site redesign is being thought out. This should allow us to host more profiles and arrange information more clearly. There will be a genuine chat room too, not just the chat box on the right. We are also going to ditch the forums and replace them with something more advanced.

Lastly a big thanks to Kev Q (aka Me Myself and I) for keeping the radio going. I've noticed that the radio flash application on the site doesnt seem to work very well, so I wil be replacing that with something more robust.

This week I will be updating the mix of the month, not with one but with two mixes selected from our archives. This to make up for the lack of update.

In the meantime, keep uploading your mixes. We have nearly 140 mixes online covering so many genres. Keep it up!

Safe-DJs will always be free, so it would be cool if people showed their support and donated a small amount to keep our servers running.

Regards
Ross.

Donations Time
Safe-DJs will always be free. Initially there was going to be a small charge but we have decided that it's better for everyone if it remains free.

However there are costs, running the radio and website incurs monthly fees.

If anyone is feeling generous then donating a small amount towards these costs would be greatly appreciated.

You can donate by visiting the website at www.safe-djs.net, scrolling to the bottom and clicking the PayPal button on the right hand side.

Any donation is appreciated.

Thanks
The Safe-DJs Team.

Updates Complete
Hi all

Just a quick note to say that profile updates are now complete. Sorry for the delay.

If there any mistakes please let me know.

A few notes on profiles:

I have had profiles sent to me in 'text speak'. No im not kidding. These will be rejected.

Profiles are a reflection of yourself. If you don't word them correctly or spell check them, it will make you look stupid. Nobody wants that. Also it makes the site look unprofessional. Please ensure all updates and new profiles are correctly checked for spelling and grammar. Any profiles that don't pass basic GCSE english, won't get posted.

Please keep photo's under 200kb. Today I downloaded three 6mb JPG files. This is bad mmmmkay?

Also if anyone has forgotten to give proper contact details I have only listed your email address under the contact section.

All new profiles now have a downloads category for which to upload to. When a mix is uploaded the mix link in your profile will be updated so that it works. Get uploading!

If you are a DJ and want a profile, theres still time. Send the following info:

Bio
Contact Details
Upload Mixes

to ross@safe-djs.net

Thanks for all the support so far! We have some exciting developments coming up, especially regarding the radio and summer time parties!

Also, Kevin Quaine (aka Me Myself and I) and PhatboyTim are now in charge of all things radio related. If you have any questions please contact them on radio@safe-djs.net

The schedule is now up and running via the SDJ Radio menu. The DJ application form will be completed by the end of the week.

Epic Fail!
... well maybe thats a bit harsh.

We really tried hard to stream Charm tonight but events have conspired against us. Gravity, it seems has a wicked sense of humour. The shelf that was holding our kit to stream the show gave way and caused our kit to impact with the floor quite severely. Scratch one monitor. The PC was fine but without a monitor to see anything we were screwed. Booo!!! :(

Thanks so much though to Kevin Quaine for doing a show up to 9pm. We will definitely be hearing from him again.

We live and learn... until the next time.

Just being upfront with everyone about what happened, sorry to disapoint anyone.

Look out for the SDJ Schedule this week.

Donations!
Thanks for all the donations that have come in over the past month. This has allowed us to get the radio online!

On a month by month basis we will need to keep up the donations to keep the site running. If you feel the site has benefited you, then why not donate?

Safe DJs Radio... Online!
... in a manner of speaking.

It's all set up. But for now it's running a play list of three mixes that we have hand picked out of the Safe DJs archives.

First is Phil Pritchards excellent Chicago influenced house mix. A fantastically funky blend of the some of the best house from the U.S. Phil if you're reading this, you need to send in your profile mate :)

Second, DJ EnigmatiK excellent techno mix which saw her to the final of the Djoust European DJ competition in London. Check out her profile here: http://www.safe-djs.net/page.php?29

And thirdly a mix by Andy Martin that he perfomed on KISS radio back in 2008. A very smooth progressive house mix. His profile can be found here: http://www.safe-djs.net/page.php?31

How do you tune into the radio? Well you can point practically any media player such as Winamp, Windows Media Player or iTunes to this address:

http://radio.safe-djs.net:8040
(clicking the link will only bring up the status page, you must copy and paste it into the File > Open box of your media player of choice)

We recommend Windows Media player. There will eventually be an applet on the website you can use to tune in with.

We will be contacting some of the DJs that expressed an interest in playing live on the radio during the week and working out a schedule. Also if you have a mix you think that should be played in the radios 'offline' playlist, then send it in.

Safe-DJs profiles are still up for grabs. If you want a page of your own then please mail in your bio and contact details to ross@safe-djs.net and don't forget to upload some mixes to the site. We will be updating the ones emailed in today.

SDJ Radio
We are very pleased to announce that Safe DJs Radio will start broadcasting on Friday 20th February 2009.

All we need now is DJs who are up for regular slots. To start we will only be broadcasting each Friday from 6pm but as interest grows then we will expand the schedule to accomodate. This is an internet radio station with up to 50 listeners for now.

We can't run a radio station without DJs so thats what this message is all about. We need 4 DJs who are up for a 90 minute slot each starting from 6pm to 12am. We accomodate all genres!

If you are interested in a slot then please feel free to E-mail Ross at radio@safe-djs.net detailing your name and genre. If you have any mixes then please feel free to upload them to safe-djs.net so I can take a listen.

Hopefully we'll see interest rise and the schedule expand. This is just for starters.

Also we have something special lined up for April 25th, but more news on that in the coming weeks.

Remember there are still free profiles available at safe-djs.net so if you haven't taken advantage of the offer then nows the time to do it. Details are on the news section of SDJ Facebook group and also on the safe-djs.net website under Join SDJ!

Looking forward to hearing from all of you.

Peace and Beats
The SDJ Team
